ABSTRACT
This paper examines the growing role and dynamics of telecommuting in France, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing on examples from three metropolises (Lyon, Rennes and Toulouse), the paper highlights its effects on territories and business organization. In particular, the authors seek to understand how this practice redefines residential choices and the dynamics between urban centers and outlying areas? How are companies reorganizing their working methods in the face of the telecommuting boom, particularly in terms of flexibility and collaborative spaces? Finally, the authors identify a number of challenges in terms of digital infrastructure, public policy and territorial competitiveness.
