SUMMARY

This booklet, produced by the Réseau National des Collectivités pour l'Habitat Participatif (RNCHP ), provides an overview of 24 participatory housing projects in urban, suburban and rural areas. Through concrete initiatives, it illustrates how this model of housing co-constructed with citizens can meet the challenges of access to housing, social mix, ecological transition and land sobriety.

Ten years after the ALUR law (2014), participatory housing is asserting itself as a strategic lever for local authorities: it encourages citizen self-promotion, innovation in use, the rehabilitation of old buildings and the strengthening of social ties. Cities such as Strasbourg, Montpellier and Lille are singled out for their concrete strategies: making land available, dedicated calls for projects, technical support. These communities demonstrate that clear political leadership, appropriate land tools and engineering support are essential to the success of these projects.

A valuable resource for local housing policies, city building and territorial resilience initiatives.
