SUMMARY
Urban planning agencies play an essential role in the rehabilitation of industrial and agricultural wastelands, anticipating new territorial issues. For decades, they have been working hard to identify, recycle and reconvert these derelict areas to give them a new lease of life. This process relies on in-depth knowledge of the terrain, accompanied by a detailed analysis of obstacles (land tenure, pollution) and opportunities (quality of the site, architectural potential). Programmatic creativity, often implemented through temporary or tactical urban planning projects, is crucial to testing new uses. These transformations require close collaboration between local authorities, public land establishments and agencies. Within the framework of European environmental objectives and ZAN, the emphasis is also on soil regeneration, with new perspectives on the desoiling and renaturation of land. This document provides an overview of inspiring initiatives in France, at different territorial scales.
