ABSTRACTThe

International Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI), established by the Jožef Stefan Institute, UNESCO and the Slovenian government, supports the development of AI-based solutions to meet the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2021, IRCAI launched the "Global Top 100" program, a global call for projects highlighting AI solutions to meet the 17 SDGs. The 2022 edition highlights the program's qualitative and quantitative progress. It evaluates these initiatives according to four criteria: scientific maturity, impact on the SDGs, market potential and ethics. The selected projects cover various sectors (education, health, biodiversity...) and show progress in the use of AI for sustainable development. The report also highlights ethical challenges and the need to promote greater geographical and gender diversity in these initiatives. On the IRCAI website, it is also possible toidentify AI projects according to various criteria, such as the SDG to which it responds (e.g. Sustainable Cities SDG).

NB/ Among the projects selected is the automated investment promotion system set up by the "Invest in Estonia" agency, which uses the "Suve" chatbot, the "EIA" robot and the "Emma" robot.
