SUMMARY
In a context where quality of life and health are becoming key issues for local authorities, a growing number of local authorities are committed to developing cycling and walking throughout France.
Between April and June 2022,Vélo & Territoires and the Club des villes et territoires cyclables et marchables conducted a vast survey of 1,287 local authorities on active mode policies. Historically, the first four Vélo & Territoires surveys targeted the départements (as early as 2000), then investigated the action of the regions (in 2006) before broadening the spectrum to the intermunicipal level in 2019.
