SUMMARY
Active design involves designing public spaces and buildings to encourage residents to engage in physical activity and sports "freely and spontaneously". The aim is twofold: to encourage people to "move around" more, and to reclaim public space in order to combat sedentary lifestyles; and to make city centers more attractive to residents and visitors alike, with a view to enhancing their heritage.
