SUMMARY
The Expedia "Unpack 25 Trend" report highlights the major travel trends for the coming year. It is based on a survey of 25,000 people in 19 countries (adults who have traveled or plan to travel for leisure in the next three years).
Among the trends identified:
- The rise of all-inclusive resorts, particularly popular with Generation Z.
- Indeed, almost 42% of young travelers prefer this type of accommodation, notably for its simplicity and the sense of luxury it provides.
- Travelers are also looking for cultural experiences, such as shopping for local products they can't find at home.
- TikTok has even helped to popularize certain local specialties, such as Korean cosmetics or French butter.
- JOMO - "Joy Of Missing Out" - vacations favoring disconnection and relaxation in isolated locations.
- Set-jetting, i.e. the tendency for travelers to choose their destinations based on the filming locations of popular movies and series, influenced in particular by productions such as "Emily in Paris" or "The Real Housewives of Dubai".
- 1-click travel and "social shopping" : Expedia's online travel stores now make it possible to book directly trips recommended by influencers.
- The appeal of sites featuring natural phenomena, such as the northern lights or spectacular tides.
