SUMMARY
Since 1999, the AmCham-Bain Barometer of U.S. Investor Sentiment in France has measured changes in France's attractiveness. The 2023 edition highlights the unfavorable global economic context, and the discomfort and uncertainty of American investors; nevertheless, France remains highly attractive in their eyes.
"After two years of global health crisis, and while Covid-19 management seems to be entering a mature phase, Europe is once again plunged into severe turbulence: war in Ukraine, semiconductor shortages, galloping inflation, rising energy prices, strong tensions on the labor market... The results of the 2023 Barometer highlight the discomfort and uncertainty in which American investors find themselves. As evidence of this, only 22% of them believe that the economic context will evolve positively over the next 2 to 3 years, compared with 74% in 2021, during the post-Covid economic recovery."
In particular, the study measures executives' propensity to recommend a country, a company or a product through a single question (NPS® Score): "Would you recommend this country, this product or this company to your friends or colleagues?" .
NB/ This study is based on the responses of 135 managers of French subsidiaries of US companies surveyed in December 2022 & January 2023. See methodology for more details.
