SUMMARY
The study "Au bureau sans bureau", carried out by IDHEAL in collaboration with L'ObSoCo, highlights the growing impact of telecommuting on lifestyles, in particular the layout of domestic spaces and the distribution of professional and personal tasks. Using data collected from 3,000 French workers(*), the report analyzes the social and territorial inequalities created by this practice, accentuated by the health crisis of 2020.
The results also reveal a link between telecommuting and residential mobility: 21% of working people have moved home since 2020, mainly in search of more space, peace and quiet or a more pleasant living environment. Telecommuting is thus becoming a decisive criterion in real estate choices, influencing relocation decisions for 45% of working people surveyed.
(*) Survey carried out online by L'ObSoCo from October 5 to 20, 2022, based on a sample of 3,000 working people representative of the working population in mainland France aged 18 to 67.
