BioDiv' 2050 Report - From mass tourism to sustainable tourism: biodiversity as an opportunity to restructure industries
Mission Économie de la Biodiversité is a Caisse des Dépôts initiative, co-directed and managed by CDC Biodiversité. Its aim is to create and test innovative tools for reconciling economic development and biodiversity preservation.
The "Biodiv' 2050" forward-looking report proposes to analyze biodiversity as an opportunity to restructure the tourism industry by moving from mass tourism to sustainable tourism. It is divided into two parts:
- UNDERSTANDING the interdependencies, synergies and impacts linking tourism and biodiversity, and the need for a change of model towards tourism that promotes sustainability and biodiversity;
- INVENT solutions and tourism offers that promote the preservation and restoration of biodiversity.
This report lays the groundwork for all players in the sector to move towards a tourism offering that is balanced on all three pillars: economic, social and environmental .
