Limites planétaires et politiques territoriales

SUMMARY

A product of the Partenariat Français pour la Ville et les Territoires (led by France Villes et territoires Durables), this booklet was produced in preparation for the World Urban Forum 12 in Cairo. Its aim is to encourage decision-makers to take into account the nine essential limits to the Earth's habitability. Inspired by "donut economics", it examines basic social needs, or the "social floor", and planetary limits, or the "environmental ceiling". The viable and just space for humanity lies between these two limits.

Keywords: systemic approach, fundamental needs, biodiversity, change management, responsible consumption, water management, planetary limits, SDGs, Sustainable Development Goals, public policies, natural resources, public services.

So how can we ensure that our models and activities evolve to meet essential needs in the North and South, while preserving the habitability of our planet for future generations?
