SUMMARY

This 3rd edition of the barometer on "Happiness at work as seen by young people aged 18-24", carried out by the ISC Paris group and BVA Xsight, analyzes their vision of the world of work, their expectations and their definition of the "dream job". The study also includes a focus on their relationship with artificial intelligence.

Key points of the survey

The survey was carried out from November 12 to 26, 2026 among 1,051 French people aged 18 to 24, representative of this age group according to the quota method. An oversample of CSP+ people aged 18 to 24 was also included.

1. Young people's expectations of their jobs

  • For 28% of young people, their dream job is to set up their own business or be self-employed.
  • Salary remains the main criterion for considering a job as a "dream job".
  • Having free time for their personal life is their main personal expectation of their "dream job" (42%).

2. Perception of young working people

  • 77% of 18-24 year-olds in employment say they are satisfied with their job.
  • Only 27% took the initiative to negotiate their salary when they were hired.

3. Future prospects

  • Only 30% think they will continue in the same profession after their first work experience.
  • For 38% of young people, professional success is still mainly associated with daily fulfillment at work.

4. Young people's perceptions and expectations of their training

  • 70% of young people feel that their training will enable them to achieve their career goals, a slight drop.
  • The main expectation of post-baccalaureate training is the acquisition of the skills necessary for successful professional integration.

5. Use of AI

  • 69% of young people have already used artificial intelligence.
  • Only 21% claim to use it on a daily basis.
