Since 2010, the International Festivals & Events Association' s (IFEA) World Festival & Event City Award has been highlighting exemplary territories that use festivals and events as genuine levers for territorial development, as assessed by a jury of international experts.

Key elements of the IFEA award
The World Festival & Event City Award highlights exemplary territories in the organization and promotion of events, offering inspiring models to follow. It is organized by IFEA, a professional association founded in 1956 and based in the United States. Since 2010, the award has been presented annually at the International Convention & Expo, with the support of a number of partners and sponsors from the event industry, including players in the insurance, event technology and festival services sectors.
To be selected, a territory must :
- present a complete overview of its community,
- detail its local festivals and events,
- demonstrate support from public authorities,
- show theinvolvement of the non-governmental community,
- explain how events reinforce the territory's identity, cohesion and attractiveness,
- provide any additional exemplary elements that enhance its initiatives.
Entries are judged by an international panel of events experts, on a points system of up to 100. Several territories can be rewarded each year.
