SUMMARY

LUMIÅ, a center for action research and strategic innovation specializing in regenerative economic models and leadership, publishes this summary based on the Destination Regen action research program, conducted in partnership with the sociology and foresight firm Change it Use it.

The institute rightly observes that “the health of the tourism sector depends on the health of the region that hosts it ”: tourism stakeholders and regions are interdependent, and this shared vulnerability calls for moving beyond simply limiting impacts to making a positive contribution. The summary sets out ten principles of regenerative tourism, identifies the levers of action that accommodation providers can utilize (land use, procurement, governance, customer experience, pricing), and emphasizes that this approach requires rethinking the business model itself (what is sold, to whom, and how value is created and distributed). Inspiring case studies illustrate these principles: the Playa Viva eco-resort in Mexico, the MOB project in Saint-Ouen, the Monts d’Azur Biological Reserve, and La Maison Forte in Lot-et-Garonne. Finally, the document details the four pioneering lodging providers supported through the Destination Regen initiative: the Domaine de Marlioz (Aix-les-Bains), Camping La Brande (Île d’Oléron), Les Orangeries (Sud Vienne Poitou), and the Domaine de Saint-Martin-de-Toques (Occitanie).
