SUMMARY
Over the summer, many European countries have been encouraging people to travel by train, with attractive pricing schemes (sometimes even free of charge). While the main aim is to respond to the energy crisis by lightening household budgets, these measures also aim to reduce the carbon impact of travel.
For its part, theComité Régional du Tourisme et des Loisirs d'Occitanie (Occitania Regional Tourism and Leisure Committee ) has launched the "Occitanie Rail Tour", a tourist offer based around a fifty-stop train itinerary. Visitors are invited to discover the region on all or part of the circuit, with the possibility of experiencing "Fabulous Journeys" at each station-stop. An inspiring initiative, in line with "the new vacation aspirations of the French": according to this recent study (led by Tourisme Bretagne, 2021), 70% want to travel more responsibly .
