SUMMARY
Like all tourist destinations, the Occitanie region has suffered from the various traffic constraints linked to the health crisis. Thus, over the period February - May 2020, the region suffered an overall loss of sales of 1 billion euros. With international customers absent, the strategy was to encourage local customers.
As part of the 2021 action plan to revitalize the tourism economy, the CRTL initiated a partnership with Decathlon to support regional tourism players and encourage local demand.
This partnership took the form of the publication of several cards promoting outdoor sports venues: they were distributed in the region's 23 Decathlon stores. The initiative includes a number of communication initiatives designed to raise the region's profile among customers of the sports equipment retailer.
