SUMMARY
Not enough doctors to meet demand, medical practices forced to close for lack of takers, specialist appointments that drag on and on... these are just some of the difficulties facing our mainly rural territories. Medical desertification is unfortunately gaining ground on a national scale, and many countries are beginning to implement a range of measures to alleviate the problem. This is particularly true of the Aude department, which has made "medical desertification one of its priorities". The Conseil Départemental has launched a proactive policy to attract healthcare professionals, and thus improve access to healthcare for the people of Aude (Source: Département de l'Aude " Lutter contre la désertification médicale ").
