Quand les Angevins contribuent au développement de leur ville grâce à un budget participatif

SUMMARY

A pioneer in participatory democracy, Angers has been deploying citizen participation schemes for the past ten years (citizen counters, neighborhood councils, consultation on development projects, etc.). Using a combination of digital and face-to-face tools, the "Écrivons Angers" participatory budget sourced 1,000 projects, selected those that could be implemented and financed those that received the most support from residents. This type of approach makes it possible to improve both the quality of life of residents (users) and public policies (drawing on collective intelligence, prioritizing actions). Last but not least, this method - if transparent - enables politicians and citizens to renew ties of trust.
