SUMMARY

In a rapidly urbanizing world, many metropolises have embraced the concept of the "smart city". These cities see digital technology as the new urban revolution, and as a solution to their major environmental, economic and social challenges. Tomorrow's smart, high-performance city will bring together businesses, citizens and local authorities around digital and sustainable projects, with the aim of improving the quality of life of its inhabitants. Smart Chicago, a citizens' organization dedicated to improving people's lives through technology, has developed a network of key people and united institutions around a project to collect data using connected environmental sensors. This open-access database serves residents, users and public services.
