SUMMARY
With more than 115 days a year when pollution limits are exceeded, the Mexican capital has the unfortunate reputation of being the world's worst-breathing city. The Via Verde project gives residents a little hope. It consists in planting the pillars and medians of major roads with plants capable of filtering fine particles. The project is intended to be both socially and environmentally virtuous, since the materials are sourced locally and the recycled plastic structures are manufactured by people on social reintegration schemes.
