SUMMARY

Against a backdrop of an aging population and socio-economic fragility among the over-60s, the City of Belfast has put in place an ambitious policy to help its residents remain active and healthy, even in old age. In 2014, it joined the WHO Age-friendly Cities network. Thanks to a strategic partnership between city services, the State and associations, Belfast has worked on four priorities: physical infrastructure, socialinclusion, health and well-being, and financial security. Evaluated by the University of Belfast, the program shows very encouraging results, both in terms of people's quality of life and perceptions.

This publication summarizes the project, its strategy, action plan and results. This case study was presented at PMF 2022 in Grenoble as part of the work of the "Health, Well-being & Sustainability" Think Tank.
