SUMMARY

Vienna, the Austrian capital with a population of 1.7 million, is considered by the consulting firm Roland Berger to be the "smartest" city in the world out of 153 metropolises surveyed(Smart City Strategy Index 2019). The Smart City Wien initiative aims to achieve the climate and energy targets set by the European Union and the Paris agreements (COP21), while preserving the quality of life of its residents.
