Living Labs to stimulate co-creation and innovation

Living Labs

A Living Lab brings together different players (public, private, companies, associations, individuals...), with the aim ofexperimenting with newservices, tools or uses. The idea is to take research out of public or private laboratories, by involving users right from the start in the design of a product or service, in order to adapt it to the expectations of consumers/users.

The idea behind Living Labs is that innovation must take social dimensions into account. Hence the need for innovation and experimentation facilities to be on the ground and involve users, who become key players in the innovation process. This is known as openinnovation , co-design or crowdsourcing [1].
