SUMMARY
The city of Detroit has entrusted a young entrepreneur with the fine mapping of theMotor City. This open-data digital tool enables the city to collect and retrieve information on real estate (type of land, condition of buildings, occupied or not, private or public ownership, etc.) in a city hard hit by the subprime crisis. One in three homes has been foreclosed in the last 10 years, and this vacant land has to be managed, particularly by the city, which has to cope with deterioration (garbage dumping, looting, etc.), trafficking, the development of pests (rats, etc.) and the risk of fire or even collapse.
