SUMMARY

Based on the observation that the border areas of their respective countries had unfortunately been neglected in favor of the capital cities and coastal areas, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Mali have embarked on a cross-border and local cooperation program. On May 14, 2018, the prime ministers of Côte d'Ivoire, Mali and Burkina Faso officially launched the project to create a Special Economic Zone (ZES) between the regions of Sikasso, Korhogo and Bobo-Dioulasso. The project's ambition is to develop this zone in a concerted manner with local authorities and the population, around priority projects in agriculture, livestock and basic infrastructure.
