CITTASLOW: a quality-of-life label for towns with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants

SUMMARY

Quality of life is increasingly emphasized by local authorities as a factor in attracting residents and tourists. The Cittaslow movement promotes a pleasant pace of life, good eating habits, conviviality, hospitality and respect for the environment. A label is awarded to towns with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants that commit to this approach. Created in Italy, over the last fifteen years it has become an international network, present in 30 countries and comprising 236 towns on every continent.
