ABOUT THE BOOK
Public management has established itself as an academic discipline in its own right, at the confluence of currents from law, economics, management, political science and sociology, and at the crossroads of the practices of public players. This Encyclopedia is aimed at a wide audience of researchers, students, practitioners and elected representatives keen to deepen and broaden their field of knowledge, and to find quick and precise answers to their questions. More broadly, any citizen will be able to refer to it to better understand how public action is decided and conducted. Written by 150 specialist researchers and practitioners, its 220 entries cover the concepts, theories, schools and fashions that characterize public management, both in France and abroad. They put them into context, and describe the modalities and limits of their implementation, thus shedding light on all phases of public action, from conception to evaluation of results. A detailed index allows us to compare and contrast them, and to clarify the links between them. Each bibliography has been carefully concentrated on the necessary references.
