SUMMARY
Created in 2010, the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings is one of the leading international rankings of higher education institutions, alongside the Shanghai ranking and the QS World University Rankings. While these rankings are not, of course, the only factor influencing international students' decisions to study at a particular institution, they are scrutinized every year (notably by the institutions themselves) and widely commented on in the press and by academic players. For French universities, these rankings play a key reputational role, giving them (or not) a certain international visibility.
