SUMMARY
Known as the Portuguese Venice, thanks to the canals that wind their way through the city, Aveiro is a city of some 80,000 inhabitants, renowned for its residential and tourist appeal. The transformation of the rental market in the historic center for tourists, combined with the nuisance caused by major renovation work over several years, has led to the desertification of the city center. The 'Viva Cidade' tactical urban planning project aims to facilitate the reappropriation of these public spaces by the local population and visitors, and to revitalize the city center.
