Given the growing contribution of wine tourism to the global economy, this research aims to study in depth the determinants of a wine tourism destination's attractiveness.
An extensive literature review has enabled us to design an integrative theoretical framework that combines work on the concept of tourist attractiveness and on wine tourism. The AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method is used to assess the relative importance of each of the determinants of wine tourism attractiveness. The main theoretical contribution of this work lies in the proposal of a conceptual framework that takes into account the systemic approach to tourism. From a managerial point of view, the results clarify the determinants that can encourage tourists to visit a wine tourism destination, and which consequently condition its attractiveness. The relative importance of each of these determinants provides a decision-making tool for managers of a wine tourism destination.
