Barcelona Demà: drawing up a new strategic plan for a more resilient, prosperous and inclusive metropolis

Benchmark Governance and Partnerships SDG, Transition and Resilience

SUMMARY

After various strategic plans and reflections (Visio2020, REM 2011-2014), the Pla Estratègic Metropolità de Barcelona (PEMB) has launched a new process of shared reflection to integrate the proposals of public and private entities and citizens to draw up a strategic vision of the metropolis in 2030: " Barcelona Demà - Compromís metropolità 2030" . This new plan is designed to ensure social and economic progress, with innovation and sustainability as its driving forces, and to reduce inequality and spatial segregation in the metropolitan area. It is based on six main pillars: a resilient metropolis, a prosperous metropolis, a cohesive metropolis, a smart metropolis, a multi-level metropolis and an open metropolis.
